Chapter 1 Center

 

TN STANDARDS:

·         Organize data into appropriate tables, graphs, drawings, or diagrams.

OBJECTIVES:

·         TSWBAT create a pictorial model of a plant cell.

·         TSWBAT record experimental changes on a Experiment Log.

ACTIVITY:    Chapter 1 worksheets.doc (33 kB)

·         Have students in two “center” groups

·          Group 1: After lesson, have students create a drawing of a plant cell. It should be colored and labeled according to any specifications in the book.

·         Group 2: Students will participate in experiment. Student should draw the experimental jar as it is set up.

o Jar with crushed leaves and rubbing alcohol. A piece of paper will be lowered by pencil into jar. They should record what happens to the paper as time passes.

·         After 15-20 minutes students will switch centers.

Chapter 3

 

TN STANDARDS:

·         Draw conclusions based on data analysis and evaluations.

·         Organize data into appropriate tables, graphs, drawings, or diagrams.

 

OBJECTIVES:

·         TSWBAT initially hypothesize the reasoning for plant respiration under varying conditions.

 

ACTIVITY:       Ch 3 Worksheets.doc (70,5 kB)

·         Have one center that students will visit throughout the lesson. Students may visit center 5 -6 at a time. Two plants will be presented. Both plants will be covered with bags. One plant will be covered with nothing added. The second plant will be covered and placed under a lamp for heat. The students are to draw and note the differences they notice within the two bags. Also they should provide an initial reasoning for why this happens. Will be discussed the next day in class before moving on.
